7The WHSRA will be having the Rifle/Chink Raffle again for the 2017-18 year. Contact JT Nunn for more information - email@example.com or 307.721.7666 Thank you Chad Chapman for the beautiful rifle in the past and Thomas Davis for the handmade chinks. We hope to have the same items for the 2017-18 raffle!
We hope to offer the same incentive program for the 2017-18 raffle, but the amounts & deadlines have yet to be determined.
In 2017 the Board of Directors have made a new award for the State Finals. It will be similar to the PRCA 'Linderman Award' and will be called the 'WHSRA Jim Moore Award'. The board amended the rules/requirements at the June 2017 meeting to be effective with the 2017 Fall season: 1) Any boy that competes in at least three (3) events in at least 5 rodeos, (at least one (1) rough stock event and at least one (1) timed event) and, 2) Must earn at least 5 points in each of 3 events (at least 1 rough stock event and at least 1 timed event) and, 3) Must enter the State Finals in 3 events (at least 1 rough stock event and at least 1 timed event) Will be eligible for this award. The boy with the most points after the State Finals will be awarded a buckle and a saddle (Donors to be determined).
Notification for High School Rodeo Crisis Fund Donation Recently the WYHSRA Board of Directors approved a motion to encourage all Wyoming rodeo clubs to donate either a minimum of $100 or a gift basket of equivalent value to the High School Rodeo Crisis Fund. The reason for this request is that the fund is available to help any injured member in need. For the past number on years, the national qualifiers have been putting together the basket. We would greatly appreciate your help and support. Please designate a member or parent to get your club’s basket to the Miss WYHSR Coordinator, Gerda Dickinson, during your rodeo or when entries are due at state. If you have questions, please contact Miss Wyoming High School Rodeo Kate, or Miss WYHSR Coordinator Gerda Dickinson, at the following email addresses.
WYHSRA MEMBERS AND FAMILIES. Please respect the rules and property of our beautiful Wyoming Fairgrounds. We are privileged to have several wonderful facilities in which to hold our rodeos, please try to leave your area as you found it by picking up trash, paneling horses only in a designated area (not on groomed grass), following all posted signs and returning borrowed items in good condition. Thank you!
Please remember student officers and directors that you may be asked to carry a sponsor flag at the local qualifying rodeos and you WILL be expected to help carry flags at the State Finals. If you do not have a horse capable of carrying a flag, please find a replacement now so you won't be scrambling just before grand entry time!
JH Division-Beginning with the 2017-18 rodeo season, chute dogging will be run thru a straight chute, NOT thru a bucking chute. This is in effect for qualifying rodeo & at the National JH Finals! Please check the rulebook and/or the national website for more information.
