The WHSRA is excited to announce the choice of Gillette’s CAM-PLEX as the site for the 2019 and 2020 Wyoming State High School Finals Rodeo. We were pleased to have three very qualified and valid site proposals to look at. The other two locations being the Sweetwater Events Complex in Rock Springs, WY and the Wyoming State Fairgrounds in Douglas, WY. All three locations showed great support and respect for Wyoming High School Rodeo. Following a written vote of the full board of directors, Gillette’s CAM-PLEX was chosen as the site for the 2019 & 2020 finals. The WHSRA hopes to start the site location process for the 2021 and 2022 State High School Finals in the near future. We look forward to working with all three facilities during that process, as we are considering a multi-site rotation for future High School State Finals. Details of the winning bid have not been released pending final contract negotiations with the CAM-PLEX. The final approved dates will be: June 3rd-8th, 2019 June 1-7th, 2020

NEW ELD Mandate & what it may mean to you! THE FUTURE OF AGRICULTURAL & RODEO TRAVEL AS WE KNOW IT COULD BE AT STAKE!!!!!! IT IS REGARDING NEW FEDERAL REGULATIONS (ELD'S-Electronic Log Device) & how that new federal regulation impacts existing laws and regulations! Specifically has to do with commercial vehicles- which your truck & trailer may be considered! We are still working the Federal Congressional personnel, NHSRA and Wyoming Highway Patrol Here is the most Current Update I have received from the FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regarding Horse Rules for Wyoming!
Due to some recent questions regarding individual sponsor signage allowed in the arena at our local and state rodeos, I have added this brief update! Please click here for an update on what is allowed and what is not! We acknowledge and SUPPORT that companies who are NOT National Sponsors are willing to step up and support our youth. However, please be considerate and respectful. If a company sponsors you, wear their logo with pride, but don't just put a 'sticker' on your hat or shirt to 'look cool'! If you have any questions please send Dixie an email or give her a call!
At of our June 2017 Annual meeting- the Rodeo News will be our official publication for two years! The board also changed the points system for the all around categories. Please check out the 'WYHSRA Awards & Points' information on the 'Membership Info' tab.

In 2017 the Board of Directors have made a new award for the State Finals. It will be similar to the PRCA 'Linderman Award' and will be called the 'WHSRA Jim Moore Award'. The board amended the rules/requirements at the June 2017 meeting to be effective with the 2017 Fall season: 1) Any boy that competes in at least three (3) events in at least 5 rodeos, (at least one (1) rough stock event and at least one (1) timed event) and, 2) Must earn at least 5 points in each of 3 events (at least 1 rough stock event and at least 1 timed event) and, 3) Must enter the State Finals in 3 events (at least 1 rough stock event and at least 1 timed event) Will be eligible for this award. The boy with the most points after the State Finals will be awarded a buckle and a saddle (Donors to be determined).
AS ALWAYS-
WYHSRA MEMBERS AND FAMILIES- Please respect the rules and property of our beautiful Wyoming Fairgrounds. We are privileged to have several wonderful facilities in which to hold our rodeos, please try to leave your area as you found it by picking up trash, paneling horses only in a designated area (not on groomed grass), following all posted signs and returning borrowed items in good condition. Violations of these rules could result in damages being assessed to the local club, which would in turn be assessed to the members who violated the rules and may result in disciplinary actions for the members!
Please remember student officers and directors that you may be asked to carry a sponsor flag at the local qualifying rodeos and you WILL be expected to help carry flags at the State Finals. If you do not have a horse capable of carrying a flag, please find a replacement now so you won't be scrambling just before grand entry time!
JH Division-Beginning with the 2017-18 rodeo season, chute dogging will be run thru a straight chute, NOT thru a bucking chute. This is in effect for qualifying rodeo & at the National JH Finals! Please check the rulebook and/or the national website for more information.
