The WHSRA Board of Directors voted at their November 2019 meeting to make a couple of ground rule changes (for both HS & JH) effective with the Spring 2020 Rodeo Season: 1) Full Fees will be owed for a vet or medical release that is not to the Rodeo Secretary prior to the start of the rodeo; AND 2) Team Ropers without a partner may 'request' a partner from the Central Entry office, four (4) times (NOT ALLOWED AT STATE FINALS); the rule is in the Rule book (it is under Team Roping,Rule III (3) in the 2018-20 rulebook) The exact procedure is being worked out and when it is available, we will have it on this website, but tentatively, both those looking for a partner and those willing to be drawn as a 'volunteer' (both headers and heelers) will need to text Shelly prior to the close of entries for the first rodeo. Full fees will be owed by both and points WILL NOT count for the 'volunteer'. You can only ask for partner 4 times!!! The Central Entry Hand book on the 'Membership Info' tab has all of the revisions. Please watch for updates on Facebook and the website and contact Shelly or Dixie after the spring season schedule is posted if you have more questions.
In 2017 the Board of Directors have made a new award for the State Finals. It will be similar to the PRCA 'Linderman Award' and will be called the 'WHSRA Jim Moore Award'. The board amended the rules/requirements at the June 2017 meeting to be effective with the 2017 Fall season: 1) Any boy that competes in at least three (3) events in at least 5 rodeos, (at least one (1) rough stock event and at least one (1) timed event) and, 2) Must earn at least 5 points in each of 3 events (at least 1 rough stock event and at least 1 timed event) and, 3) Must enter the State Finals in 3 events (at least 1 rough stock event and at least 1 timed event) Will be eligible for this award. The boy with the most points after the State Finals will be awarded a buckle and a saddle (Donors to be determined).
AS ALWAYS-
WYHSRA MEMBERS AND FAMILIES- Please respect the rules and property of our beautiful Wyoming Fairgrounds. We are privileged to have several wonderful facilities in which to hold our rodeos, please try to leave your area as you found it by picking up trash, paneling horses only in a designated area (not on groomed grass), following all posted signs and returning borrowed items in good condition. Violations of these rules could result in damages being assessed to the local club, which would in turn be assessed to the members who violated the rules and may result in disciplinary actions for the members!
Please remember student officers and directors that you may be asked to carry a sponsor flag at the local qualifying rodeos and you WILL be expected to help carry flags at the State Finals. If you do not have a horse capable of carrying a flag, please find a replacement now so you won't be scrambling just before grand entry time!
